It’s been almost four years since you selected me to serve as your Southern Region Director.  Reviewing what we have done together shows how successful these years have been and what a great team we make. It will also help you envision what else we can accomplish, if you re-elect  me in 2004.

A primary focus of every Regional Director is the managing of Regional business and activities. Under my leadership as Regional Director and with volunteers from every corner of the region, our regional successes include:

Communication Improvements

·         Established the first CFA Regional email list

·         Held over 40 Regional Meetings

·         Been available to all exhibitors at shows in every part of the region

·         Utilized the Southern Region list, email, phone, meetings, and one-on-one discussions to solicit your ideas and listen to your concerns

·         Regional Show Scheduling and Production Guidelines

·         Regional Show Financial Reports for Southern Region award and Fundraiser shows

·         Club and individual Donations

Improved Regional Unity

·         Held Regional shows  and meetings throughout the Region

·         Focused on regional shows as regional events rather than club events

·         Gathered Regional  volunteers from all areas of region

·         Established 2004 CFA Annual Committee with volunteers from every sector of region

·         Added kitten and premiership regional awards recognition to the annual awards program
 

More Attention to Show Scheduling

·         Published Scheduling Guidelines and Traditional Show Date Calendar

·         Worked closely with Southern Region Show Scheduler and Clubs to find viable show dates

A Strong Regional Treasury

·         Established a financial plan to raise funds throughout every year to support annual events and plan for the 2004 CFA Annual

·         Raised over $50,000 on regional shows through partnering and responsible show management

·         Made show profits on Regional Awards Show that covered our awards expenses the past three years

The Regional Director must also assist in the management of CFA through work on the CFA Board of Directors.  As a CFA Board Member, I have:

·         Served as Show Rules Chair

·         Devised a new show rule presentation format used to simplify Board show rule review

·         Introduced registration and show statistics as an essential ingredient for informed Board decisions

·         Served as Breeds and Standards Chair

·         Established and published new breed advancement guidelines

·         Established new guidelines for miscellaneous and provisional breeds representation

·         Represented Southern Region interests on the Board

If you re-elect me as your Regional Director, I will make sure these improvements continue.  One of the primary factors for these successes has been your willingness to share ideas at meetings, on the Southern Region list, at shows, on the phone, and via email.  Listening to your ideas, sharing my own, and communicating both to others within the region have let us make changes in the Southern Region that are important to you.

I hope that all of you will continue to share your thoughts and concerns for CFA with me.  What else can we do to improve the Southern Region and CFA? We have made great strides but it is unlimited what can be accomplished when we all work together.  I have enjoyed the opportunity to serve the Southern Region the past four years.  I would like the opportunity to serve the Southern Region for another two years and ask for your support at election time.
